Presentations for alphaMELTS workshop
There are the presentations from the NSF-sponsored GeoInformatics workshop at Caltch in July 2019. These are for
alphaMELTS 2, and alphaMELTS for MATLAB/Python. The files may have been modified slightly
since previous workshops, to fix typos or incorporate suggestions (at the very least they have been
renamed to make them easier to keep track of).
If you want to find the exact presentation from a workshop you attended,
please visit the alphaMELTS archive page. During
a workshop updated presentations will be posted in this
workshop working files
directory (opens in a new window).
Example files for alphaMELTS workshop
These are all the latest versions of the examples from the NSF-sponsored GeoInformatics series of workshops.
Some alphaMELTS for MATLAB/Python are included here, some are in the 'examples' folder of MELTS_Matlab. Others that we
did on the fly at the workshop will be uploaded when they have been tidied up some more. They may have been modified slightly
since the last workshop, to fix typos or add new examples. A convenient way to get all the files is to go the workshops
GitList server and click
the 'ZIP' button. If you want to find the exact
files from a workshop you attended, please visit the alphaMELTS
archive page. During a workshop, updates and new files will be posted in this
workshop working files
directory (opens in a new window).
MacOS software for the alphaMELTS Workshop
For the duration of the workshop, all software will be available from MAGMA
Source GitList server, though we do ask that you sign up for GitLab
to get future updates of alphaMELTS 2, and alphaMELTS for MATLAB/Python. If you want to upgrade to Big Sur then we suggest waiting until after the
workshop, as we have no way of testing the alphaMELTS software on that yet. Download the Mac versions for the following software:
- easyMelts from easyMelts.git - requires little to no installation, though if you are on Catalina you will
need to override the "unidentified developer" security settings.
See the easyMelts board on the forum.
- Combine tbl 2 from Combine_tbl.git - download this if you already have Excel installed, though we will not be using
it enough to be worth installing Excel specially.
- alphaMELTS for MATLAB/Python from MELTS_Matlab.git - the *README* describes the system requirements, pre-requisites,
and instructions for setting up. Note that you will need to install the GNU Science Library (GSL) via Homebrew.
- alphaMELTS 2 from alphaMELTS2.git - download the whole folder and follow the link in the *README*
for Mac installation instructions. If you are on Catalina you will also need to override the "unidentified developer" security settings.
See the alphaMELTS 2 board on the forum.
Linux software for the alphaMELTS Workshop
For the duration of the workshop, all software will be available from MAGMA
Source GitList server, though we do ask that you sign up for GitLab
to get future updates of alphaMELTS 2, and alphaMELTS for MATLAB/Python. Download the Linux versions for the following software:
- easyMelts from easyMelts.git - requires little to no installation.
- alphaMELTS for MATLAB/Python from MELTS_Matlab.git - download the whole folder, which includes both
MATLAB and Python scripts. The *README* describes the system requirements, pre-requisites,
and instructions for setting up. Note that you will need to install the GNU Science Library (GSL) via your system's
package manager (e.g. apt, dnf).
- alphaMELTS 2 from alphaMELTS2.git - download the whole folder and follow the link in the *README* for
installation instructions.
Windows software for the alphaMELTS Workshop
For the duration of the workshop, all software will be available from MAGMA
Source GitList server, though we do ask that you sign up for GitLab
to get future updates of alphaMELTS 2, and alphaMELTS for MATLAB/Python. Most of the software can be run either in native
Windows or the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL). Download the Windows (or Linux) versions for the following software:
- easyMelts from easyMelts.git - requires little to no installation, unless you have a high resolution
screen or you wish to run the WSL (Linux) version. See the easyMelts board on the forum.
- Combine tbl 2 from Combine_tbl.git - download this if you already have Excel installed, though we will not be using
it enough to be worth installing Excel specially.
- alphaMELTS for MATLAB/Python from MELTS_Matlab.git - download the whole folder, which includes both
MATLAB and Python scripts. The *README* describes the system requirements, pre-requisites,
and instructions for setting up. You can run the WSL (Linux) version of alphaMELTS for Python or the native Windows version.
- alphaMELTS 2 from alphaMELTS2.git - download the whole folder and follow the link in the *README* for
installation instructions. You can choose to run the native Windows or WSL (Linux) versions of alphaMELTS 2, or both, but it will be
easiest if you have an alphaMELTS 2 installation that matches your alphaMELTS for MATLAB/Python (i.e. native Windows for MATLAB).
